Who is homeless?
(no fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence)

  • Lives on the street, in motels, in campgrounds, in cars
 
  • Lives in a shelter
   
  • Lives in substandard housing/may lack utilities
     
  • Doubled up with other family or being raised by someone else
       
  • Abandoned, throwaway, runaway, or awaiting foster placement
         
  • Moves frequently
           
  • Unaccompanied Youth



 

What does NCLB say?

  •  Enroll immediately (including unaccompanied youth)
 
  •  Remain in school of origin
   
  •  Receive transportation and other services

 

What help is available?

  •  School enrollment assistance
 
  • School supplies, fees,  uniforms
   
  • Tutoring for children in shelters and in schools
     
  •  Help with issues of school records, immunizations, B.C. etc.
       
  •  Help with accessing community resources
