  • Homework Policy:

    • Much has been said and written for and against home assignments.  Rapides Parish generally adheres to the policy of assigning some homework to their pupils with the understanding that pupils know what is assigned, they have been taught how to do the assigned tasks, and reasonable time frames are observed.  This policy is advantageous because home assignments accomplish the following:
      -
      Supplement school work.
-Help children develop good study habits.
-Help in organizing what has been learned in school.
      -Stimulate pupil growth.

    • Keeping in mind that the student spends seven (7) hours per day in school, and approximately one additional hour traveling to and from school, a reasonable time frame shall be established for home assignments.  The following time frames shall be the maximum spent on home assignments:
      -grades K-3    45 minutes
      -grades 4-5    60 minutes

  • Illness:

    • If your child becomes ill at school, we must have the number of a contact person who will be available to carry him/her home.  Please supply your child's teacher  with appropriate emergency numbers by filling out the "check out authorization" forms.

  • Internet Use:

    • No student work, images of students, or student names are to be posted to school or district websites without written parent or guardian authorization.

    • This authorization must be obtained by parent or guardian completion of the Authorization Form for Photo and Student Work Inclusion on the Rapides Parish School Board Website.

    • The completed form must be kept on file at the student's home school.

    • Use of student photos, schoolwork, or names must conform to the permissions indicated on the Authorization Form.

    • In no case shall a student's full name be used on district or school websites.  Only first names may be used  and those only with the approval of the parent/guardian on the Authorization Form.

    • Names are never to be used in conjunction with student images or photographs.  Names may only be use to identify student schoolwork or other recognition.

    • Other than the student information listed on the Authorization Form, no student information that could be used in any way to locate or place a student should be used on the district or school website.
