This lesson should take a week from start to finish. 1. Talk about being special and having talents. Discuss how each child has a special quality. Tell students about how you are special or a special talent you have. 2. Have students brainstorm their special qualities or talents. Pass out handhelds. Have students open Inspiration. Brainstorm. 3. Pass out Planning Page. Have students organize brainstorming ideas into planning page. 4-square writing works well for organization. 4. Model how to make a paragraph. Take Purpose sentence and type it into Documents to Go. Have students open Word. Have them type first sentence. 5. Model 1st detail sentence. Type it into Word. Have students type their first sentence into word. 6. Model 2nd detail sentence. Type it into word. Have students type their second sentence into word. 7. Model 3rd detail sentence. Type it into word. Have students type their third sentence into word. 8. Model conclusion sentence. Type it into word. Have students type it into word. 9. Show students how to develop sentences using description. Go through and develop sentences and edit for punctuation and capitalization. 10. Have students edit work. 11. Have students beam paragraph to partner for peer editing. 12. When finished peer editing, beam edited paragraph back to partner. 13. Student corrects and publishes paragraph. 14. Beam finished paragraph to teacher. 15. Students can take pictures of each other
using a digital camera. The picture can be printed or edited.
