applications to use for graphics and drawing tools. If teachers find
themselves wanting to use it with lessons, the $20 to $25 seems
worth it.) |

Lesson Procedures: *Teachers and
students will visit library and gather elementary books on
Louisiana/Cajun culture. Teachers may want to ask the librarian to
help in this part of the lesson. *Have students check out one book
on Louisiana. Students may bring home their library books. *Students
will read their books individually in order to answer the Q & A
form regarding their books. *After the book has been read, the
teacher will hand out the handhelds (charged). Students will have
their Louisiana books on their desks along with the handhelds. *The
teacher will help students turn on handheld and send them to
Documents. The teacher will beam the Q & A form to students
(perhaps with one student helper--“Tech Helper” of the week). *Once
the document is beamed, students will begin to answer each question.
See Document attached. *Once students have answered the questions
regarding their books, they will save their work and then beam the
document to the teacher. The teacher will then hot sync student
documents to PC for review and assessment. *Students will then use
TealPaint application to create a book jacket based on the Louisiana
book that they read. Students will create a new title and cover
based on their perspective of the book. ***Use
http://www.tealpoint.com/tealpnt/files/pntdoc.htm for instructions
on how to use the application. *The slides that are created by each
student will be saved and then beamed to the teacher. The slides
will be collected in a folder and then shown to the class in a slide
show. For each slide, students will present it to the class—reading
title and author and why they would or would not recommend this
story to others. *Students’ recommendations could be posted in room
for classmates to view. Ex: “Kids’ Top Books List” |
