Overview
  n this lesson, students will be reading a story regarding Louisiana/Cajun culture. Students will use information from book to answer a Q & A document regarding book’s title, author, and summary. Students will create their own book jackets based on their books on Louisiana using a draw & paint application. A slide show of the students’ book jackets will be presented. Students may rate their books and a “Student Recommendation” book list may be generated and displayed in school library.

Title of Lesson: Stock market risks
Overview
  Students “buy” and track 100 shares of
2 stocks from the New York Stock Exchange for a
period of 6 weeks. At the end of the period students
will calculate the percent increase/decrease using
pencil/paper and calculator. They will then use Excel spreadsheets and enter the formulas based on previous calculations. After checking the Excel formulas for accuracy, students will then create pie and bar graphs representing their data. Students will then complete an exercise with 10 stocks beginning and ending prices actually taken from ‘real-life’ using Excel.

Overview
  Using applications on the handheld, learners will roll dice and explore other means of data collection to create
spreadsheets in the Microsoft Excel programs under documents of the handhelds. Graphs will be used to display
findings. Students will design their own experiments to relate to a real life usage of data collection, probability, and
other learned GLE’s. They will document experiments using the video recording application on the hand held and
