Beliefs:
1. Ruby-Wise promotes a safe school climate that
encourages activities that foster responsibility, self discipline, compassion,
respect, and honesty.
2. Ruby-Wise firmly believes that the development of the entire child is
important.
3. Ruby-Wise stresses the importance of a cooperative partnership between:
students, faculty, family, school and community.
4. Ruby-Wise believes that a solid education is based on the basic skills
that encompass: critical thinking, problem solving, creative thinking, and
analytical thinking.

Ruby Wise Elementary School
was established at the present site in 1943, housing first through ninth grades. In
1980, the student population was changed to kindergarten through fifth grades only.
The first pre-kindergarten class was formed in 1997. Today Ruby-Wise house
grades
Pre-Kindergarten thru 6th grade.
Ruby Wise offers modern classroom
facilities. Students enjoy a gymnasium and Olympic swimming pool,
where public swimming lessons are offered during the summer months. The
school grounds also include two baseball fields for student and community
activities. The newly completed addition of six classrooms & the
renovation of the administrative area give the campus an updated appearance.
A wireless computer lab & classroom computers enhance the variety of educational
experiences offered.
Complimenting the
strong academic programs at Ruby Wise are various extracurricular activities, such
as Junior Beta Club, 4-H Club, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Annual Social Studies
Fair, Drug
Quiz Bowl, Sixth Grade Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, and Swimming Teams & Cheerleaders, Accelerated Reader Activities, grade level programs
and several Field Days.
Community involvement is an ever growing asset to Ruby-Wise.
A very active Parent-Teacher Organization raises enthusiasm and much needed
funds for the school. The Ruby-Kolin Volunteer Fire department provides
instruction in fire safety and support for various activities. Students
enjoy the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program presented by a local police
officer. A Rapides Foundation Grant provides for extensive teacher
training in technology & creative instructional methods. Parent volunteers
and area businesses also provide assistance in a wide variety of activities.
