    3.  The Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Management Plans are now available on line (Special Education Website) for administrators, teachers, parents and the community. The goal is to provide behavioral strategies and links to websites on positive behavior strategies on the web page to assist teachers and administrators in the management of the student’s behavior.

    4. The first Day Treatment Program is offered for early elementary students with significant behavioral disabilities.  Students have access to play therapy, art therapy and music activities with specific social skills training.  Parents will be provided with training on positive behavior reinforcement at home.  A Summer Institute on parenting will be provided this summer.  Expansion of the program to older elementary level students is being developed for next school year.  Currently the percentage of minority children in the program is 75% based on a small number of students.   A workshop on Active Parenting, a trainer’s trainer program, is tentatively scheduled for May.  This workshop is to teach trainers in assisting parents on how to work with their child that exhibits significant problem behaviors at school and in the home environment.

    5. Inclusive practices designed to increase success in the regular education
setting has been expansion of Content Mastery Centers to
eighteen. All secondary programs in the district now have a CMC
center complete with a wireless lab, CMC teacher and a
paraprofessional. A comprehensive CMC handbook is currently
being developed to provide for consistency of the program
throughout the district as well as sharing information and
strategies among CMC teachers and staff.
